Hey Nathan,
I am a full-time online student at the University of Phoenix. I love the flexibility. I major in Criminal Justice. It's something I've always wanted to do all my life. I want to start doing some projects or giving a helping hand in the Human Trafficking business in this small town Ventress, Louisiana. I just have to do some research if there are even organization or even a group of people in my town that are involved this this. OR maybe I can start my own little group here in my town, but the hard part is that I need to find out some more information on how to start this whole thing. I am doing a project about Human Trafficking for my school which is due on my 9th week. Maybe you can give me some advise how you started at first to get involved ?.
In addition to Not For Sale, I/we support Shared Hope, which works around the world to rescue victims and provides shelter, job training, and other needs to ensure a safe, healthy transition.
My wife and I work with teens and make them aware of these issues and the organizations that are fighting for good. IJM, Stop The Traffik, the Salvation Army, and others. We get involved, then give the teens opportunities to join us.
My wife is an artist, so we use the arts to raise awareness and to get others inviolved. Next week we are having an "open mic nite" with the theme, "The Least of These." Teens and adults will share original art, poetry, songs, video presentations, scrapbooking, ...
We are always looking for ways to get involved in our own community where we can get personally involved at every level. Even in our small town, these issues are starting to surface.
i am very active in our campus' Social Justice team. we have a IJM chapter that is connected with my school, so i have worked with them...
so i see you are from San Diego. do you do any work with NFS directly over there? what have you done to help end slavery?
