- How did you learn about or get involved in fighting slavery?
- Oprah got me involved in the fight against slavery! On one lazy summer afternoon I watched a special on Oprah about modern day slavey...and was horrified. I burst into tears not wanting to believe the sickening stories trickling out from the TV. I woke up that day. Since then I have researched the specific slavery issues concerning certain countries and have even attended awareness programs about slavery. Sometimes I feel powerless. What am I doing to really, really help the innocent people in slavery? Then I remember this quote from a spiritual leader. He believed that once you got calm and peaceful within yourself then that peace ripples out into the world and touches everyone on the planet. So peace starts from within.
